Our First Repeater is now on the air!

Set your TX and RX, there is no tone on D-STAR.  Further details and tips follow in the sections below:

TX: 447.8375 Mhz
RX: 442.8375 Mhz

  • The repeater is in a short phase 2 of testing and will be fully deployed in the coming days or a couple of weeks from this time (July 12th).

  • The repeater is at 60' on the north side of Dudley for Phase 2.  At times, it will be extended to 100'.

  • The repeater will be fully deployed to the Old Wachovia Bank building in downtown Goldsboro soon.

  • You can go ahead and program the coordinates in your RT Systems Software or whatever you use:

Registration on the D-STAR Gateway System (REGIST)

The first thing you need to do is get registered on the Gateway System.  Without the registration, you can talk on any D-STAR repeater locally, but to talk on a reflector, you need to register.   Click on the link and get started with your registration.

Programming your radio

If you have a D-STAR capable radio and you want to get on the D-STAR network or even just talk locally, the easiest way to program your radio, hands down, is using RT Systems software.  They also have a YouTube channel, which is very useful.  Here is the list of D-STAR related videos on their channel.  If you get stuck, get in touch with us at CE-N and we'll try to help via our contact page.

D-STAR Ultra-Basics

Some points to consider when operating on D-STAR and the Gateway:

  • Feel free to link the CE-N repeaters to any reflector.  It will automatically revert to the default REF66B after 15 minutes of inactivity.

  • Understand if the repeater is connected to a reflector, and your radio TO line is set to Local CQ, you will not be heard on the reflector.

  • After linking to a reflector, you must select "Use Reflector" to be heard.

  • To know if you are "being heard" on REF66B, check the "Last Heard."  If you are on the list, then your rig is set up properly.

  • You can see a full list of reflectors at the D-Star Info website and check for "last heard" status.

YouTube Essentials

Coming soon, a "YouTube Essentials" page will list out videos the team considers essential. Quite frankly, the D-STAR forums can be like watching paint dry; some are quite old, but all still hold value.  Also, there will be links to radio-specific videos that are very helpful.
